Refrigerator money toward a new server or 3
Let's hope that some of the money being made from the ridiculously overpriced dorm fridges goes toward some computer hardware for MUGSI and SOLAR software. The 386s have got to be burning out...

Aside, is anyone dropping LS 1A03 in the first semester?

Mugsi/solar will never be fixed.

Maybe if people actually grew some balls and -actually- tried to boycott something.

The University has allocated $25 Million for the next 5 years for IT Infrastructure redevelopment. Out of that sum $4.5 will be spent this year on upgrades. While it is beyond late(we are the last school in G13 to conduct a systemic review of our IT Infrastructure this year) it is some relief. I am still trying to find out the break down and details of that spending.

I was talking to a few people who work within conference services and rez life and even they were shocked by the decision. It was very much a surprise one, however I clearly do not think that whatever money Housing & Conference Services makes from their deal with ColdDex would be useful for the gigantic costs Overhauling the IT Infrastructure require(Around $60 million according to the request by the CIO a few months ago, he only got $25 approved).

What sucks is that while these changes are good, the people who wanted them most won't get to enjoy them and the people who do get to see them will just consider them an automatic part of theuniversity experience and take them for granted because they never knew....SOLAR 1.0

so i think they should go back to solar 1.0 every 4 years to show people how it was. it's like when i saw SWHAT used to sign up and arrange for their shifts by hand and on paper, it was surreal.
