Reinstatement
Hey, so as you can probably assume from the title of this thread, I didnt do so well this year (im in first year). I don't really have an epic excuse for not doing that great, but I've heard that some students have gotten reinstated even if their excuse was that they just partied too much. Is that true? Not that that's my reason, it would just make me feel a little better about my situation if it were true.

And just making sure - I for sure won't be able to do summer school to bring up my average?

If your GPA is below 3, then you can't do summer school.

Go see Sally, honestly. If your in this situation, I cannot understand how your first reaction is "post on macinsiders" as opposed to "contact sally williams". She can help you, we cannot.

Good luck though, first year engineering is hard.

It all depends on how low your average actually is, and the reason you have.
Definitely contact an academic adviser though.

haha unfortunately you probably won't get back in with an excuse like that. it also depends on how low your average is.

i applied for reinstatement last year and didn't make it back. i had a few OKAY excuses but nothing too extreme. however my average was like a 2 so pretty bad. as for sally, yes she can help but don't expect her to get you back in. if your average is below a 3, then start thinking about a good plan for your year off. also, don't forget about btech. if youre applying for reinstatement into engineering then definitely apply for btech as well, as there is a high chance of getting in. i regret not applying for it all the time.

good luck!

If your GPA is below 3, you shouldn't even be at Mac, you're giving it a bad name. :/

i think your giving Mac a bad name by being a jerk.... usually good people would offer support and advice not negative criticism and a cold shoulder

Congratulations on the 500th post, and enough people have already given him/her advice. A bit of reality shouldn't hurt anyone, if it does then that isn't my problem but theirs because the root of it all comes from them.

I wasn't trying to be a dick, that's just how it turned out to be.
Sorry cause that wasn't my actual intention and that will only happened if I don't try and do well in my classes. It boils down to the actual student in the end.
