What they mean by the same responses, they're referring to the order of the rooms i.e. you both put:
1- double with washroom
2- double
etc...

Not the study habits, staying up late, how you use your room, etc.

Based on some of the other comments here, they've changed the way they do this from when I was in first year...but when I did it, the reason they wanted everything identical was because it's a computer that goes through and assigns roommates based on answers, so in order for the algorithm to work, everything had to be identical.
