Required grades for 2nd year programs
Generally, how strict are they with enforcing the minimum grade requirements when applying for your major after first year? Is there any sort of leeway, or do you just not get in if you don’t have the marks? (More specifically, your mark in the class you plan on majoring in)
Plus, how exactly does the process work when applying for your major after first year?
Thanks!

to get into honours the minimum is usually a 6... pretty sure that is strict... but for more specific/limited programs higher grades help... it really just depends on how many people apply and how many spots they have

1. You get the grade, you get in, you don't, you don't.
2. You don't get in if you don't have the marks.
3. You apply to the program and choose a bunch of courses that are cool.

The cutoff changes from year to year. Look at the Undegraduate calendar, under science programs ->Biology and Psychology. Keep in mind though, that these are basic requirements to apply, not necessarily get in. Generally, if you're between 9-10 avg you're pretty much guaranteed entry to your first choice program.
Marks are very strict, if you're off by 0.1 you're not in. And as for applying, it'll be on SOLAR just like choosing courses and whatnot

Ok awesome, thanks, I have about a 9.5 now, and am looking to improve upon that a lot next semester. I had heard bio psych was competitive, and was worried a low 9 would not be enough. I'm definitely gonna try and get it up to make sure I get in. Thanks for the input!
