Required to graduate
Hello Everyone

I am in a tough situation,

I am wondering how many units are you required to have to graduate with a degree in Economics?

I know if your in commerce you need 120 units

Also for Economics minor with business does the unit number required change?

Thank you

All of this information is in the course calendar, but a couple of things about your post should be clarified if you need help looking up the information.

First, majoring in econ is very different from majoring in commerce. I'm not sure why you referenced commerce.

Second, are you referring to number of required units or total units?

Third, are you asking about the honours (4-yr) degree or regular (3-yr) degree?

Lastly, if you are referring to total units, your minor has no effect on the number needed to graduate. If you're referring to non-elective units, then there is a certain number of units towards your minor that MUST be elective to your degree (cannot be used to satisfy major and minor requirements)...it can be found in the course calendar, but without you clarifying your situation there's not really much more that can be said.

adeeb says thanks to starfish for this post.

thanks for your help in advance,
Ill tell you my case,

I was in Engineering, got 6 courses completed and failed 4 (total 10) 3.1 GPA
then now in Commerce first year I got 8 courses completed and failed 2 (total 10) 4.5 GPA
so I think there going to kick me out of commerce
and my only choice is Economics, even though I really want to stay in businesses but im looking at my options

I am thinking get Econ degree and do MBA
what you think?
im really stressed

Okay, first you need to look at how many of your engineering courses will transfer over/can be counted as electives. I think all of them should count in one way or another, provided you have the elective space, but you should double check that.

I'm pretty sure you can't continue in commerce if you fail courses, so they probably will kick you out.

Your grades aren't high enough for a four-year degree, so I'm going to assume you're referring to the three-year BA? In which case you need a total of 90 credits. The honours BA requires 120.

You should really talk to an academic advisor, and seriously consider the reason(s) why you have done poorly in the last two years. There's no reason to expect next year to go any differently if you don't change something.
