Res Key Pick Up
Hi, I'll be moving in this week and I did not receive the student ID yet.
Does that mean I will have to bring another source of information for verification?
Btw, I read that the requirement for the key pickup is an ID and a photo.
What kind of an ID does it have to be if its not a student ID? (examples please)
Do they just want me to bring another set of photo?
Sorry I read about this somewhere else but could not really understand.
Thank you!

Any government ID will work for sure. Umm, I think the ID has to be photo ID.
The photo itself is done online in the residence portal. This year they are asking us to upload a picture of ourselves instead of bringing one.

thank you very much for such a fast response!
One more question!
Unfortunately, my ID was not mailed to me yet.
Am I to pick it up once I move in? They did not mail me any instructions regarding it... :(

If you sent in the ID card form on time and you still haven't got it (so i would assume it was lost in the mail or something) i'd talk to the appropriate department for that (dunno which it would be).
If you sent in your ID card form past the deadline then you gotta stand in line and wait with everyone else who handed in their forms late.

That would be the Registrar in Gilmour Hall.

Thank you for the clarification guys, really helpful!
I sent in the form about a week late so I will be picking it up at the Registrar.
Does that mean I won't need to bring another form of ID since I'll be picking it up?
Or I should bring it in to enter the res first? (Is it a long wait to pick up the ID?)

It depends how many students didn't send in the form on time as well as if students need to ask the Registrar any questions. I hear it's a long wait though.

Also, I don't think the registrar's office is open on the weekend (which is when you move in). If you can, come in tomorrow, otherwise you'll probably have to wait until Monday.

It should be fine. You just won't have your bus pass, but that's not really crucial for frosh.
Yes, a driver's license is issued by the gov't of Ontario.

If you are a MSU member (18+ units).

Definitely not free--full-time students (18+ units as defined by the MSU) pay for it as part of their mandatory fees. It is heavily discounted, though. 8 months (Sept-April) for less than the cost of two months, I think.
