Rez for 2nd Year
Hey, I was just wondering how difficult is it to get a rez second year and to get the desired one. I need to choose soon whether or not I want to live off-campus or on rez. I would prefer rez, but it seems like a gamble if I don't get the one I want or even if I don't get in, and I would like to find a place soon if i need to. Thank You!

You need a 5.0 GPA and you need to submit your application and deposit by the deadline. With a 9.5 GPA you're guaranteed a spot in residence. On your application you indicate your top 3 or 4 choices for rooms so for e.g. Suite style, Maison Francais single, Single with washroom, etc. Usually for upper years, not many people apply to residence and most people I know got their first choice. It's not difficult at all assuming you have a 5.0 and hand in the application and deposit by the deadline (Feb 28th this year I believe). Application comes out Feb 1st. Let me know if you have any more questions

It's very very unlikely that you won't get into residence as an upper year. But yes, you can get your deposit back if you notify them by a certain date.

From what I've heard from my CA last year, Third Year student's are given the highest preference among the upper year students, then the fourth year students and then the second year students. However, not that many upper year student apply to on-campus residence, so, whoever does, usually gets their first choice.
