You've actually got a few options. You can take a GO bus to Aldershot, and walk the 3km to the RBG.
If you take the HSR, you will be boarding the 1 Plains/Fairview East bus, which stops in Gore park (right across from Jackson Square).
If you want more info, check either http://www.rbg.ca/pages/visit_directions.html or http://www.myhamilton.ca/myhamilton/...vices/transit/

As for getting to the Warplane Museum, it is evidentally beside the Hamilton airport. You can call their info line, 1877 FIREFLY, or you can imput the address onto the HSR website, and it'll give you a route. The address and more info is available here: http://www.warplane.com/pages/aboutus_location.html

So the MSU website gave a much, much better (and detailed) answer than the RBG website:
Getting there - On campus, catch the 1A/5A/10/51 or at Main & Emerson catch the 5/5E. Ask for a transfer; explain that you will be transferring to a Burlington Transit bus.
- Get off at Main and MacNab (the stop after Main and Bay)
- Walk north (turn left) approximately one block to King Street
- Wait at the Burlington Transit stop on King just west of James
- Catch the Burlington Transit bus, route 1 Plains/Fairview East. Ask for a transfer.
- The Royal Botanical Gardens will be on your Left, at 680 Plains Road West
Coming Home - On Plains Road West, catch the route 1 Plains/Fairview West. Note: If your transfer has expired, you will have to pay the Burlington Transfer fare of $2.35 on the return trip.
- Get off at the end of the Route, at King and James
- Transfer to the 1A/5C/10/51 to come directly back to campus, or the 5B/52/54 and get off at Main and Emerson.
