Sanskrit 3A06
Hey guys, I'm going into 3rd year and was wondering about this course.

Is class attendance mandatory for participation? I know participation is worth 10%. I couldn't find anything about this in course reviews.

Hey! for the participation, the prof requires that you send him an email with the mark that you would give your self based on 4 criteria (attendance, active participation, preparedness, and general preparedness) so you need to go to class to get a high mark on the 10%. he will adjust the mark you give yourself if its not realistic, and its a small class so he will know who you are.

also: it is essential to go to class in order to do well in this course. there is no textbook that you can read and supplement instead of going to class.

Thanks, this was very helpful. Is it hard to get a 12 in the course? I know it's a bit tough but the prof is great.

Sanskrit is a great course!
This is a great course to take. It's not easy, and you will have to work. But the process and results are rewarding. Joe, the instructor, will take you along patiently through the process. He is considerate enough to pace things according to how he sees the class is proceeding. It is not possible to take Sanskrit at every university, but we are one of the fortunate few at McMaster. And Joe is recognized as one of the best in the field. Can you get a 12? Sure, if you work at it. Be prepared to come to class and keep up with the assignments.
