Scholarships and GPA
Does scholarship renewal only look at the grades during the normal school year, or do they look at all the grades before the start of the new academic year (i.e., last school year grades and summer school grades)?

Thanks in advance!

Pretty sure it's your sessional average that determines scholarship renewal...which is measured when you've taken 30 or more units since the last sessional evaluation.

Since in first year you have yet to have a sessional evaluation, it counts your first 30 units. If you take a full course load, this means they won't check your summer school grades.

EDIT: Oh right, your scholarship's renewable for all four years? Then it's 30 units since your last sessional evaluation (which was likely at the end of your 2nd year).

deangrad says thanks to Mowicz for this post.

Wow! That is excellent news. Glad that you were the one to break it to me.

I had 27 units in second year and am going with 27 units now. The thing is my GPA then was amazing compared to what it is now. Im still doing well but I have some courses I don't like, which hurts my willingness to do the required work.

Aaah....sorry. Bit of bad news. ):

Seems the details have either changed since I last looked, or I was mistaken...here's what it says in the course calendar's glossary (http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /calen...nt/pg2009.html):

Reviewing Period

is the time between two reviews for a student. Reviews will take place in May and August, provided the student has attempted 18 units of work since the last review or is a potential graduand.

So 27 units would instigate a review, and then you'd have another this year, given that you're taking more than 18 units...but you can pull up by May!
