Science elective
Quick question (sorry if it has been asked before...)

But what would be a relatively easy course "from the Faculty of Science"?

I am required to take one as an elective for next year, so I just want to see what some of you might recommend.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a first year course(?).
Thanks in advance.

all the grades 12 equivalent courses are easy. physics 1l03, chem 1r03, bio....dont know if you can take em though because my friend in comp sci got 85% in gr 12 chem and wasnt allowed to take chem 1r03 this year because he got over 80 in grade 12 or something...enviro sci 1a03 has been pretty easy so far, but no one knows what to expect from the exam. everyone has like an 85 in that class going into the exam so we expect it to be hard.

Astron 2B03. No pre-requisite knowledge or courses necessary, it's catered to students from any academic background, and it's one of the most interesting second year courses available.

im not 100% sure of this.. but i think geography or enviro sci classes could be considered a science elective. im doing a BA in geo, but theres also an option of doing a BSc in geo&enviro, and on the undergrad calendar it shows the school of geography and earth sciences under the faculty of science... so if youre at all interested in geo/enviro stuff then you might be able to take one of those ! i suggest looking at the reviews here on macinsiders, theyre usually really helpful

Probably better to lean toward earth sci electives if you can, since geo is something counted as a soc sci.

Easiest science elective I can think of is Astron 2B03. It was really interesting and open to everyone. There were people from commerce, biochemistry, biology, psychology, humanities, just about every program.

You write journal entries (really easy), do a project/presentation with a partner, participate in tutorial discussions (they're pretty interesting), one midterm, and one exam. TA can make it or break it for this course. You want a good TA who will give you near perfect for participation, and a good journal mark. Project is the hardest to do well on, but if you do your work you should be good.

You can also look at the first year courses: Psych 1X03/1XX3, Bio 1M03. But the difficulty depends on the prof.

Enviro 1A03 is pretty good, not to much work, labs are a bit annoying but very fair exam. Got an 11, labs are again tedious but easy, quizes can be annoying but you get 3 attempts so they are not that big of a deal, the exam I studied a fair bit for. I would recommend this course as an elective.
