Did anyone find that after taking these classes, they didn't need to buy the textbook after all?

Econ 1BB3 - Macroecon

Biochem 2BB3 - Protein structure & enzyme function
Biochem 2L06 - Lab Course
ChemBio 2P03 - Biophysical Chem
Psych 2N03 - Neuropsychology
Bio 2C03 - Genetics
Bio 2B03 - Cell Bio
Psych 2AP3 - Abnormal Psych

Thanks for the input!

Biochem 2B03: Yes, it helped me a lot when I was studying.
Bio 2C03: No, I didn't use the book except to do tutorial questions. You can pop open your laptop during tutorials or you can share the book with the person beside you.
Bio 2B03: Yes, I barely attended lecture so it was my #1 form of learning.

For the record, these are all opinions.

Econ 1BB3 you have to buy Aplia, but it comes with an online version of the text free. Buying the hardcover text isn't really worth the extra price.

I bought the text for Bio 2B03, it was never really useful for me though. The old edition is so cheap though that I still bought it.

Bio 2C03 I didn't buy the textbook, and didn't have many problems. For tutorials having the book is helpful, but like jhan said it isn't a huge deal not to have it.

Biochem 2B03/2BB3 have the same textbook...it was relatively useful for 2B03, but not useful AT ALL for 2BB3...which is too bad, really, since you've already spent all of that money on it

Chembio 2P03 has a different textbook this year--not just a different edition, but it's actually an entirely different book than what we used last year. And really, anyone who bought the book last year only did it because the prof was a fail, but you have a different prof this year too, so I'd wait and see. If the prof hadn't been a fail, the textbook would not have been necessary.

Bio 2C03 has 1-2 concepts that are only taught in tutorial, so the textbook can be useful for that, but otherwise there was no need for it. You could google the concepts taught in tutorial or borrow the book from a friend/the library if you don't get those concepts, it's not really necessary to buy the book.

I didn't buy the Bio 2B03 book, but I was looking through my housemate's the night before the exam and found it explained some things pretty well, albeit with a lot of superfluous information. If you learn well from the prof, you don't really need the book for the course...I had Igdoura, and even though he expected us to read all of the chapters associated with what he was teaching, I didn't read any of it and still did fine

I haven't taken biochem 2L06, but I'm pretty sure the stuff is actually mandatory...the CCW is, at least.

They just changed Psych 2AP3 to make it a second year course (it used to be a third-year course) so I'm not sure how they're actually changing it, but they used to test some things directly from the readings, so the textbook would be good to have for this course.
