Showing up to other class times
Are you allowed to show up to other class core times? Like, your class is offered at 8-9 and 10-11, if I don't have class at 10-11 can I go to the same class for another lecture?

No one is stopping you, but if the class is packed full then you are stealing someone's spot.

Yeah I can only see it being an issue if the other core is jam packed and there are no seats available for people actually registered in that core. If that becomes an issue than you should be going to your own assigned core. If there's lots of extra space then by all means go for it.

Also if you really want to attend the other core just wait a few weeks and the lecture should thin out a bit even if it is full. Even after 2-3 weeks you will notice a reduction in the number of people attending a lecture.

The only class where this might be an issue is certain chemistry sections like Lock's from past experience and maybe biology, but I do remember random empty seats, but very little.

Hatala's (Chem 1aa3) core was really packed because it was at like 10 or 11, and he said its fine if you attend his section even though you're not registered, but if its especially packed, you should take the initiative and give up your seat if somebody whos registered in the course can't find a seat.
(but I suppose it depends on the professor)

This one kid ragequitted the lecture because it was so full... its always obvious when there are lots of people attending the wrong lecture time, so try to be considerate

edit: oh, and if your course requires iClicker participation or attendance taking, etc -- you have to go to your own, otherwise it won't count (usually)

I remember in first year 2nd term for 1ZZ5 when JHE376 was packed, people were sitting on the stairs too. And finally one day Childs said its enough and everyone who wasnt in that core had to leave.. they even brought a guy from the math department with a list of names of people registered in that core, LOL.

Most of the time its fine, sometimes I have even walked into classes that arn't mine just to pass the time
