I took this course last term with Dr. David Penner. The course breakdown is 4 reflection papers worth 60% and a final m/c exam worth 40%. Dr. Penner is a great speaker and is really knowledgable even though the course is on "Women and Family". The reflection papers don't depend on how well of an essay writer you are but rather how critical you can think on the subject at hand. Each reflection paper has about 4-5 questions, all on different lectures/subjects, that you get to chose one and write about. I am a science student so I'm not used to writing essays but I did pretty well on these reflection papers. These reflection papers stemmed from ideas on lecture and in the courseware readings. The courseware was extremely expensive (~$100). At the end of each lecture, Dr. Penner gave us sample questions that almost all were tested on the final exams, so make sure to keep track of those. Overall the final and the entire course was pretty good and I really enjoyed Dr. Penner as the professor.
