Solar
Hi, I was just wondering what "sectioning" is
http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /regis...%20FINAL. pdf

It says that SOLAR opened on Aug 2-3 for sectioning, only I dont know what that means :/
Were we supposed to choose our class times then, so that on the 8th the timetables are released?!
The whole thing is really confusing, so I'd really appreciate if someone can clarify what should be going step by step :S
Thank you in advance!

It closes for sectioning. The computer selects sections for students (Cores, Tutorials and Labs) which minimizes the total number of conflicts university wide. Then UTS starts to build all the timetables (It sounds like it's done manually... which is ridiculous). You get your timetable, then when SOLAR opens on the 10th you can change your sections around if you want.

sectioning just means they are making their timetable for you, then on the 8th your timetable will be out, and you can make any changes if there is room in available sections.

Thanks!
So basically, what you guys are saying is that since solar has closed in the beginning of Aug, everything is being done by them.
Aug 8th we get our timetable, and on the 10th we can switch around core, lab, and tutorial times?

If it's all manual, I'm just wondering where the mock timetable I made comes in? Do I try and rearrange everything on the 10th if I want my timetable to be similar to my mock?
(Sorry if my questions sound stupid, this is all really new)

It depends on whether or not it opened. Are you a Life Sci I student? If so, then it's required for you. I would contact one of the advisors about getting you a seat.

Yes, just email the Chem department. You may not be guaranteed the Core you want (in which case, just keep trying) but you will definitely be guaranteed a spot in the course.

Are the timetables available at 12? Or is a 830 sort of deal.

I'm pretty sure they're available at 12. They didn't specify 8:30 so..

Well you can't do anything about your timetable until the 10th at 8:30 anyways, so no need to stay up
