So guys, what do you think about the new PlayStation? Personally i am not gonna get it as soon as it comes out. I am probably gonna a bit after it comes out, and then maybe I’ll get one

I won't be getting it a launch unless there's one game that makes go crazy. IMO, the ps3 has just reached its prime where its gets the sales and support from developers. The ps3 STILL doesn't have its KILLER exclusive release yet (FINAL FANTASY 13 Versus, the LAST GUARDIAN, etc).I can't believe a developer can take an entire generation to make ONE game :( *end rant* now sony is thinking of announcing a new console I guess they have to, since Microsoft is announcing one this year to.

buh buh..I just bought my PS3! I cant imagine how much better this is going to get, The jump for me from PS2 to PS3 was amazingly huge and expect the jump from 3 to 4 to be just as huge.
I am guessing this will just be a announcement though and no actual release until later? They just released a new version of the PS3 2 months ago :S
MGS4 is awesome. The ps3 has many exclusives that I considered up their with MGS4 like God of War, Uncharted, the last of us, Killzone, Resistance, Little Big planet, etc. I mention those two because they have been announced very early in the ps3 life span. yet they still in development. guess, I shouldn't have used Killer lol

Sony has said from the beginning that the PS3 will have a ten year life span, so they'll continue supporting that thing until 2016 at the very earliest. I mean they're going to pool the majority of their resources into breathing life into their new console, but the PS2 still got the occasional gem (read: Persona 4) years after the release of the PS3. Since the PS3 sales are down, and the market has become saturated, it's time to roll out a new console (and early, to get the jump on Microsoft) for the sake of that company.

Well, yeah. At the very earliest, we can expect a Fall 2013 release. This early, pre-E3 announcement is very much akin to when Microsoft debuted the Xbox 360 on that MTV special Elijah Wood hosted. The only problem is that, if history teaches anything, Sony's E3 showing this year will probably be lackluster because they'll spill all of their beans at this upcoming event.

Serious? I was figuring that a new playstation would be coming along. Honestly, though, if it was a new Xbox, I would be a lot more happy, and it would be a better investment compared to a new playstation.
The last playstation was one of the biggest jumps in computer power ever. Its 7+1 core processor delivering over 1 teraflop of computational power was only just beat by graphics cards from roughly 2 years ago. Its still shocking that ps3 games look as good as they do (if developed properly) compared to much, much more expensive and recent gaming computers.
The jump comparability to the ps4 will be nowhere near as big or expensive (sony lost money on every ps3 for 2 years)
