Stats 2B03
I (like many other 2nd year Science students) could not get into Stats 2B03 yesterday.
I emailed the Stats department and got:

Dear Melissa,

Statistics 2B03 is to be taken by Level 3 students to prepare them for and to have a Statistics background for fourth year coursework.

Thank you,
UTeam/pm.

I also called the department and got the same message, it is only available to third year students (..despite the fact that it is a 2nd year course).

Just a heads up for any 2nd year science students

FJEAN says thanks to MelissaL for this post.

That's a pretty weird reply. Why not make it a 3rd year class then?

I agree. If it's ONLY to be taken by third year students, why not make that a prerequisite to save the second years of all the grief and stress it's been putting us through?

McMaster does some things that are so weird.

So basically forget trying to to get the spot, and just pick a random course? That's really weird though...weren't there 2nd year students this year who took this course?

Some may have nabbed a spot, but there probably wasn't many if upper years all chose 2B03 before 2nd years even had a chance to pick their courses.

Perhaps they changed it because a lot of third year students realized they needed it more urgently (than second year students) for their graduate programs (or to graduate). Still... it's weird though.

Hey PTGregD,

I see that you're minoring in Economics. Do you have any 2nd year economic courses you might suggest (pre-req. econ 1b03)?

Econ 2H03 is amazing to choose. You can check out my review for it in the course reviews section. It's fairly easy and the prof helps the students out a lot (if your prof is Khan).

I would suggest taking Econ 1BB3 then because that is just like Econ 1B03 and you should find it easy as well. That way you can later take even more Econs.

Interesting that it's only for third year students. I'm transferring into MedRadSci, and the acceptance email states that I can take this course in September. Hopefully there will be a spot left for me. *crosses fingers*

I got this reply:

Stats 2B03 is a level 2 course according to the level of difficulty of the material. However, for your program it is strongly recommended that you take it in level 3 as then you will have the material at your fingertips for your level 4 thesis work.

I hope this helps.
