Stupid Landlord & Internet
I live in a landlord house, and having issue with the internet. The landlord is a bit of a douche when it comes to the internet. Rather than taking service from techsavvy, or other such providers, it uses freaking cogeco which is a rip off. Unfortunately they over charge you like crazy, if you go over.
I live in a basement with 2 other guys, and we have about 120 GB per month. Which we go over, and he ends up cutting off the internet :@.
What is the best way to deal with this? I would offer more money to him, but he doesn't seem to like it. And he wont switch internet because he has a bundle.
In the mean time, I am without options for the internet :(
Is there another option for internet? I tried the wind speed stick , it had terrible quality.
Help :'(

Ask your landlord to upgrade the amount of bandwidth or ask the two dudes to DL less else they pay for the overlimit charges (i'm assuming you don't dl at all/use heavy bandwidth stuff)

Sorry to hear about your situation. Usually you would ask a landlord for help, but your case, he's kind of the problem. Like Leeoku said. You should talk to the other two and see if you can make them cut back on their downloading Super-HD-1080p video, movies, etc. (JK). Cutting back is the best right now. Alternatively use Starbucks/Williams/Mcmaster internet if you are desperate. Last suggestion is to look at your lease when referring to internet. See if you can find a loop hole. Sorry if that is not much help.

I believe cogeco has a max overcharge of $50. Split the 50$ between the three of you, give it to your landlord and say you will pay overcharges. Unfortunately your landlord is under no obligation to switch ISPs at all. In addition Cogeco is the only cable service (MUCH faster) in the area (no rogers, whos deals are actually better somehow) so your landlord definitely has the right to choose it.
Id call cogeco and confirm the max 50$ overage though. This could have changed since we used them.

For their higher bandwidth plans, there is no max overcharge. My housemates and I got rip off by them because we went over by a lot and got overcharge for >$100.
One thing I want to note, TekSavvy (or ISP of this kind) doesn't cover all of Hamilton. For example, 3 of the house I lived in Main West area are only covered by Cogeco.

The big red "report post to mods" button in the lower right corner of each post.
I don't understand why you're reporting, though :S

There isn't one for the first post on mine either... probably someone tried reporting and they ignored the request. There isn't really a point for reporting this thread
