Summer Biking: The wonders of MacCycle
By CHAD FULLERTON, MACINSIDERS
Following up on Danny's
article about Biking Tips, if you're looking to
purchase a bike or have a bike already and need it repaired, be sure to check out the great MSU service called "MacCycle".
Located in the basement of Wentworth House, B115 (under The Pheonix), MacCycle offers many services to assist you with your biking adventures. The two I'd like to touch on are bike repairs and purchasing refurbished bikes.
If you already have a bike but haven't been using it in a few years because you've outgrown it, the tires are out of air, or worse... they have holes in them, then you can take your bike to MacCycle and have it repaired. Plus they have a co-op program where they will teach you all the basics of owning a bike and keeping it in perfect shape for the summer! Once a member, you will be updated on the various workshops and seminars run throughout the year.
If you don't have a bike, but recently moved to a house near Mac (which is the perfect chance for you now to ride your bike to work/school) then I suggest buying a bike from MacCycle. They have established a relationship with the City of Hamilton to bring in old bikes that were about to be thrown out, and have fixed them up in their bike shop. After each bike has been inspected and tested, they are available for sale for only $50-60 (a fraction of the price of a new bike!).
Feel free to e-mail them at
[email protected] ca. Read more about their services
here. Happy biking!
