Super Important About Credits
This year I took 21 credits instead of 30, will my average be calculated out of 21 or out of 30? someone told me (they could most likely be wrong) that it is still out of 30 which would not make sense cause it would mean the other 9 credits i didn't take would be calculated as 0, please someone confirm an answer for me!

I think the only time the number of units you take matters is if you're in first-year Eng and applying for second-year programs.

I'm about 86% sure the other faculties don't work that way, so you're fine.

they will calculate it out of 21 units for you, i've taken 27 units before and they do subtract amount you don't enroll in

Credits come into in basically three ways at school:
1. Deciding if you are a full time or part time (you're full time) student. This is the most important, because it might kick you out of MSU, affect OSAP, etc
2. A minimum number of credits is usually required to move to the next level and to graduate (this will be on the course calender. I recommend you double check, because 21 seems low to me. I think Commerce needs 27, for example, to move onto level 2)
3. cGPA calculation. You will not be assessed on courses you never took/intended to take. You're cGPA will be divided by 21. Division by 30 is basically saying part time students are disadvantaged, or that they should all have near failing cGPAs.

the average they calculate is a weighted average which is why they multiply your mark in each class by the number of units of that class and divide by the total amount, 21 in this case
