Soo true! When I was working there, I stayed at a place in Ferney-Voltaire(named after the philosopher). Much cheaper. And I worked a job which here would make maybe slightly higher than min wage, and there I cant remember the exact pay but it was uper 20's/hour. Plus from my experience, the work ethic there is no where as close to that in Canada. I actually got yelled at for working too hard and making the other employees look bad! I was just trying not to be bored.

Haha, that's great. If you don't mind, how did you get a job at the UN?

Well I contacted the guy who does the hiring for part timers and conference aids, and sent him a resume and such. They aren't classy jobs at all. I lugged conference material around and helped diplomats find their way around the buildings and city. They have a section on the site for employment last I checked. You need a Masters to do the cool things.

How did you manage living expenses? Was the money you made from working (you mentioned $20~/hour) enough? or did they help cover your expenses? (Plane Ticket etc.)

That's incredible! Did you just work in the summer months, or how did you manage?

Yeah it managed expenses. I shared with someone, and since it was in France it was much cheaper. As long as you didn't eat out every night it seemed to be fine. But we are used to cooking cheap meals as students so.... And yeah just in the summer about 3 years ago.
