Switching to Kinesiology from Commerce
Hi all, I will be attending McMaster this fall for my first year, and I will be going into commerce. However, I feel kinesiology would be more appropriate to me and I want to switch into it, but there are 2 problems:

1) I don't have Biology (SBI4U) (I didn't take any biologies in high school)
2) I don't know how to go about switching programs, or attempting to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm no expert but first to get the SBI4U equivalent you would have to take BIOLOGY 1P03. And to switch into Kin, you'd have to take the required courses here : http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...nt/pg1578.html and you actually have to be in Kin to take them and still you probably won't be able to with your first year required courses for commerce. You should definitely go speak with an academic advisor. You might have to do another first year.

To switch into kin you have to take both anatomy 1Y03 and 1YY3 and get amazing marks in them.. plus have a great first year average. then you have to apply to the faculty to switch. they check your marks from both 1st year and high school and you have to write an essay outlining why you should be in Kin. there may be other classes on top of these ones.. i would check with an advisor about that.. but you should be warned that TONS of people decide they want to switch into Kin last minute and its pretty tough to get in. not saying you wont. but ive heard they hold aproximatly 10 spots for transfer students a year

Contact Audrey Hicks ([email protected]) , she is the Undergraduate Chair and might be able to help you out with trying to switch. She's very approachable and I'm sure she will try her best to help you out.
