Switching Programs Help
I'm in Bachelar of Technology 1 and i was thinking of switching into engineering 1 in my 2nd year...i talked to my academic advisor when i first came into this program and she said that i’d needed a 10-11 gpa out of 12 to “possibly” get into engineering 1, which i think was kinda high and was no help at all...so now its nearing the end of first semester and im doubting my chances of getting a 10-11 gpa and even if i did it was only a “possibility”, so now i’m stuck..

I want to switch into engineering, so any suggestions? Also i was thinking of going into commerce as a secondary option, how would i go about switching faculties ?

Note: Engineering and BTech is in the same faculty, would it be easier then?

Well it doesn't matter whether they are in the same faculty. It is the policy that they have. The other option is re applying for University for the Fall Semester. But if you want to do that you should get on it really fast because I believe the application closes really soon (I can't remember since I went through a while ago).

In terms of switching to commerce, well... that depends on what you want to do with your life. If like engineering and thats what you want to do, do engineering, otherwise you have to find what you want to do with your life first.

I know when I was looking into switching into engineering, it also depended on what type of eng I wanted to pursue. For example, she would have been more than happy to admit me to eng phys.... but not to the more popular programs, unless my grades were impecible. Basically, to get into eng, you just gotta show them that you're more worthy of the position than someone else. ie, high marks. As terrible as that sounds, I think that's the best way to describe it.

If I may point out, you're priorities don't seem too straight (no offence...). You're basically saying "I want to get into engineering, or I quit the next closest thing that I have going for me, and I go into a completely different stream of eduction". I don't mean this as a rude criticism, but is it engineering you want, or something else? Because B.Tech really is close to engineering: You just won't get an iron ring in the end, and a slightly different degree that can get you into the same jobs as an Engineering student.

Think about it a bit before you do anything drastic anyways. And keep trying.
