Switching from Social Science to Enviromental Science
Im a first year student in social science and i want to switch into The Enviromental Science Faculty and i was wondering if i would be considered a 2008/2009 student or 2009/2010 student because the course i need to take first year change from this year to next year.

I suggest contacting the Faculty of Science, since Environmental Science is under them, especally if there's a course change between this year and next year. They're located on the first floor of the Burke Science Building.

hey and also take a look at the course requirments for your environmental science degree..If you have taken even a few of them you can graduate with the class of 2012 only(incoming fall 08 peeps in other words)...If there are a few left over you can maybe make it up during the summer or in the next 3 years...The graduation degree requirments are on the course calendar listings
hope that helps

You will be prompted to pick your major in March-ish of term II. From there you can choose any field or program. You will be granted acceptance based on academic requirements and specific averages. You may be granted conditional acceptance providing you complete your missing courses by the following year.

Sooo you can transfer into Enviro Sci, yes. But try and take as many of their first year requirements as possible next term if you're not already. It will make things easier for you in the future.

Just to clarify, does that mean that I can switch programs in 2nd year despite the fact that I dont have the required 1st year courses?

For example, if I wanted to switch into geography for my 2nd year, I can do so even though I've only completed one of the two prerequisites for level 2 geography... just as long as I take the 2nd first year geo in 2nd year?

When I applied for my major at the end of first year I applied for three programs: Honours Anthropology, Anthropology BA, and English BA.

I was granted acceptance to the English BA only having completed 3 out of 6 required units in English. I did meet the required overall average for English (a 6), and the English course I took I fared better than the average needed for English (a 7) courses. However, my acceptance was considered "conditional".

That was also four years ago, so it is quite possible that things have changed since then...your best bet would to get an answer from someone in second year, as they would have most-recently gone through the process.
