Taking a course on LOP for Fall/Winter
Hey guys, I was wondering i anyone had any experience taking a course required for their degree through letter of permission in the faculty of science? Do I need a LOP? I really need to take physics, but I don't want it to count towards my degree for my GPA which is already bad enough. So can I sign up with athabasca for example and get the transcript to the Dean's office after I've completed it? If I do need a LOP, how does your grade of the course, taken at another university, get calculated into your GPA? Is it just stated as completed or is ther an actual grade assigned.

you need to fill out a LOP form and hand it in to the faculty, they'll send you an approved LOP. Then you apply at the other university (pay them etc.) finish your course and send the transcript to the associate deans office here. It'll show up as "completed LOP other university" on your mac transcript and won't factor into your mac GPA. when you apply for grad programs or professional school, you'll submit both mac and athabasca transcripts and they'll calculate your gpa using both transcripts. So, your mac gpa is unharmed by the grade you get at athabasca, but the grade WILL count if you apply to further schooling. hope that helped.
