Teen Mom... or Teen Whores

Walked into the room last night to see my sister watching this show called Teen Moms. Basically documents the lives of kids that had babies in their teens and how they have coped. Why the heck is this considered good TV??? Someone please fill in the gaps for me here

Teen Mom
Its addictive to watch, because the whole time youre thinking "Wtf are they thinking! That crazy girl! What shannanigans will she get herself into next? Oh you say shes low on money and can barely support her kid but is getting a boob job? Winner!"
Its like watching animals in a zoo.
But - then teen moms get glorified by being on tv, and some crazy girls look up to them and want to be that way (but they probably would've turned out that way anyway)

Correction to what you said, in the case of teen moms, its more like watching monkeys that have been f**king in the zoo haha

Apprently ( I havent seen it yet) but there's a canadian show that profiles 16 year olds who get married? And one of them was like from north bay, and the show didnt seem to say that her family was religious or from a unique culture or that she was prego or anything. Just a regular, run of the mill 10th grader falling in love with her 8th grade boyfriend and coming to the logical conclusion to get married
EDIT: and her parents must've been okay with this, because I think you can only legally get married at 18 right?

People will do anything to get a show on TV, and stations like TLC and A&E will give them out with no hesitation. Like that show Duck Dynasty? A bunch of rednecks with long beards that shoot ducks, yes i can see the ratings now!!.......

i was thinkin the same thing just last week. TLC, A&E... come up with the most random meaningless reality shows like American Hoggers. Who the hell comes up with these idea. Even cartoons these days are no good as they were in the 90's and early 2000s. This is my prediction for Duck Dynasty season 3: put the rednecks in a city, this time shooting pigeons in NY.
Although I dont watch Teen moms religiously, i do watch it if there nothing else on TV. Again as Melanie said, I watch it just to see how they cope with their live, what the struggles are of such ppl. Isn't the struggles and misfortune of people the key to a great reality show?
I think the show is more of an awareness thing with all the teen pregnancies happening. And if the women on the show are being considered celebrities, its not for the most glorious achievement. They may be heroes to ppl in the same shoes not to all girls.

The worst of all, was when Sarah Palin had her own show... That is something that Americans should be deeply ashamed of

Although I agree that things like this are not good TV programming (and with most of what has been said) I am a little off-put by how you decided to phrase this thread.
Not every person who gets pregnant as a teenager is overly promiscuous, it could be a result of lack of education/knowledge or general lack of birth control. Now I'm not excusing them for not using contraceptives and deciding to go on a TV show, but it is very unfair that you are blaming only the girls and calling them whores (with this being th main part I took offense to). The men that they had sex with are just as responsible for the teenage pregnancy.
/pardontherant
Damn double standards.

Sorry, teen whores and manwhores? The complete lack of responsibility, on top of them parading it around on a tv show, just shows that none of these people used any thought before doing the things they did. No need to be making this a sexism post when its based on just stupid tv programs. If you want to debate that sort of thing take it to another thread please

The poster above does have grounds to question whether there's a sexist angle to the post. You said equated "teen whores" with "teen moms" (only women). You did not equate "teen whores" with "teen parents" (both genders). Hence, that's a pretty valid point.

my point was... to my understanding, a whore was an individual who has sex with multiple partners for money... not a young girl with a boyfriend who happens to get pregnant

maybe he was only refering to the girls, i mean lets face it, there arent many teen dads on that show, they either leave, or show up sometimes to insult each other.
I have a pretty bad habbit of juding people, but its pretty easy to do so when its all laid out right there for you. granted, they do edit shows in ways to make people seem the most rediculous possible.
but still - pregnant at 16? i wonder how responsible you will be in other parts of your life
