Is there any healthy restaurants I can use my meal card on?
I don't want to spend $3000 on junk food. I know Pita Pit is healthy, Subway is kinda healthy, are there any other restaurants?

You can't use your meal plan at subway unfortunately. This is a list of the off campus places you can use your meal plan http://hospitality.mcmaster. ca/loc...offcampus.html

^ true but there is a sub place in Centro which is very similar. It is true that most of the food you can find on campus isn't the healthiest but it also depends on what you order. For example Centro has your unhealthy stuff - pizza, burgers, chinese, but it also has a place where they make salads and a DIY salad bar. Same with Bistro which has some unhealthy meals but also offers healthy meals like chicken + salad, fish some soup and then there's needa pita where you can make a healthy pita. The student centre offers some pasta salads and normal salads.
And last but not least Bridges! Bridges is our vegetarian restaurant and it's great! Healthy and not so healthy options!
That being said I do think it's worth it to get a meal plan. Paying with your student card is so much easier than always worrying to have cash on you! It's also good for coffee and stuff like that!
Also I forgot to mention there's 2 Pillers locations - wraps and sandwiches.

On campus, it is all about choices. Get the healthier options. They are available.

I have personally found, painstakingly at times, that taste and health factor on campus are negatively correlated lol.
You'll eventually end up finding three type of dishes:
1. A dish which is not very healthy, but tasty (usually on the cheaper end of things)
2. A dish which is healthy and tasty (usually on the more expensive end of things)
3. A dish you just don't find tasty, so health factor is irrelevant.
In terms of how common these types are, personally: 3 (most common) > 1 > 2 (least common)
Sadly I've found "3" to contain most of the healthy offerings too, anyone who has tried the "Raw" menu at Bistro knows what I'm talking about. I'm sure some people enjoy it though.
In any case, you'll jump back and forth between dishes 1 and 2 depending on mood and finances. Eventually you'll just get really bored.
That's about it.

Get a small meal plan, and use your common room kitchen to cook your own food

bridges !! its so yummy and pretty healthy... honestly though you cant expect to eat as healthy at school as you do at home since youre basically always eating out! you just need to think about what youre eating and balance it out.... if youre gonna have a burger for dinner have some fruit afterwards or something. i wouldnt worry about it too much though, youll explore and experience eating on campus soon enough and you can make your decisions on whats healthy and whats not!

It uses the flex portion of your meal plan, not the basic.

There are "healthier" options. Student Centre+centro have pasta, pretty healthy if they don't load up so much sauce. Not much experience with Bistro or Bridges. My favourite "healthy" place is the Chinese food at Centro. To the side beside the sushi fridge there are premade boxes with rice and serving of entree. To me that food was the most simple and "clean" out of all the foods I tried.

It's run by the MSU, not hospitality services, therefore is considered external.

@brady, funny thing was my meals were burgers and fries everyday. Lunch was always sausage mcmuffin/western wrap and dinner always burger/fries. Why? They just tasted better, everything else was expensive and not that great... Plus the burger place at commons is open latest.
