A lot of the difficulty for first year programs (Commerce or otherwise) is determined by your high school. If they had low academic standards, you're going to have to play catch up in first year. If they were high, you'll find them easier.
Also, if you never learned how to study properly, you may find first year more of a challenge. But, that's something that can be remedied by seeking the services on campus that are there to help.
