				There *is* still hope

Today while waiting at Square One for the 47 bus I saw something somewhat unfortunate. This guy was crossing Station Gate (the road that runs through the bus terminals) with a *huge* file of papers, about 5 inches thick. When he reached the middle of the road, it fell, and his papers went flying all over the road. It took him a long while to pick it all up, causing about 3 busses and a couple of vehicles to wait on him. Now from an outsider stand-point this may seem like 'meh', but I can understand the pressure this guy was feeling keeping back all this traffic. But I, like almost everyone there, just stood and watched. Until this one guy went over and helped his gather the papers.

I felt really embarrassed of myself, but at the same time I'm glad to know that there are still good people out there. The type of people that will hold doors open for you, pick up your book if it falls, but also stop and help you if your car breaks down in the middle of no where (or even in the city).

My situation is pretty basic, but it still gave the 'that feeling'...the one that just makes you want to go out of your way to help people. To make the world a better place. It's all those little things that make a difference. And I'm sure it made a *huge* difference to that guy who dropped the papers. So I just felt like sharing that with you. Any of you guys ever experienced a situation that re-ignited that sometimes lost hope in humanity? Ever stood by and just watched? Share!

And there is still hope in humanity that there are someone like you who can reflect on this event. Thank you very much for sharing. I will try and make some difference on campus. Maybe little smile to people as I walk in the student center.

I think a lot of people have been in that sort of situation before, where they regret what they didn`t (or did) do. I know I have. Point is that you move on and next time, you make a better decision.

I once dropped my camera bag on the floor in the main train station in Brussels. It had my passport, money, camera obvi, credit cards, ID etc. Basically my life. I was gone from about 11:00 PM - to about 4 AM when I returned to the train station where I was staying the night (backpacking=poor) I went to go get my backpack from my locker and realized my camera bag wasn;t in there. I actually had a panic attack. The area around the station is NOT nice, meaning its full of sketchies. So we tried the overnight bagage care guy. Amazingly somone had turned in my stuff and everything was still there. I actually cried lol.

Whenever I find something lost, I either turn it in to Customer Service (if it's in a store) or the nearest Lost and Found location, right away. I can only imagine how horrible it must feel to lose something important.
