Three Cheers For The Hsr!
If you haven't had the privilege of riding one of the new Route 51 busses, you're missing out on a treat. In response to the over-crowding of last year, the HSR it seems have bought these beauties to give us students a comfortable ride to and from classes.
So, LET'S HEAR IT!
HIP! HIP!

This is definitely something we can send a BIIIG thank you to the MSU Board of Directors, especially VP Admin Andrew Richardson who has spent the last while working with the HSR to try to improve the service available to students! It was so nice seeing the larger buses back on the route! Thanks!

So does this mean were also getting the routes to stay on campus? Or is that too hard *sarcastic*-- Getting these nice buses must've cost a pretty penny whereas not changing the routes costs nothing.

Well, one step at a time. Chances are that the route changes won't happen for a while, if at all.

I actually didn't mind being stuck behind the PJ parade today. Even liked it a little.

You mean the buses that have that middle thing that makes them way longer? I thought there were already buses like that. Or is it specifically for the buses that go to McMaster. I've only taken the 5 to delaware bus so far this year. (it takes me to ESM, metros, and fortinos xD)

There used to be buses back in the day with the thing in the middle (the 10 beeline bus that only runs on Main street now). Now a lot of the 51's that come through are the.. caterpillar buses. I don't know what to call it. >.>

Two years ago (and earlier), the B-Line Expresses rode right into Mac (as opposed to riding down Main)...and they were, you guessed it, these swank busses (which were brand spanking new at the time).
Not to mention, the 51 also used to have old-school accordion busses (which aren't as pretty, but help meet the demand), in addition to the other usual Delawares, King 1As, etc. that are still around today.
In my opinion, all they're doing is making slight steps to repair the problem they caused in the first place by messing with the routes.

An articulated bus.
McMaster and the HSR plan to move all bus routes off campus one-by-one, and have already done so with the #10 and the parking lot shuttle which used to go to central campus/the student center. Coaches and Go buses have also been moved from the Keyes loop to the periphery of the campus. A few people have been hit by buses on campus over the last several years - being that McMaster is a pedestrian campus, their eventual goal is to eliminate most or all vehicle traffic.

I don't understand why people have been hit though, there's a million stop signs on campus, so no one is going fast - it's clear that people are just aren't looking when they're crossing which is very unfortunate.
Most of my classes are around the student centre too, and having to walk from Main St wouldn't be fun esp. if I'm running late. Blah.

Get some BONK ATOMIC PUNCH , it makes everything miss you. Srsly, look it up.
/joke
now, why can't people just look for the love of god, you'd think the bus was going like 10km/h. Plus, its not like a lot of ppl were hit, accidents happen everywhere. You don't kill the cow just because you were stupid enough to get in front of it and it stepped on you.
But I am happy about not missing 10 busses in the morning because of the crowd.

Regardless of whose fault it may be, the end result is the same - moving the bus routes will reduce accidents on campus.
And is walking half-way across campus really that big of a deal? Some people walk here and back from home 30 or 40 minutes multiple times a day. Outside air and a nice walk aren't as terrible as they sound.
