Conflicts? Don't worry! SOLAR opens up soon and you can change your sections to something that won't conflict. I'll be writing about this more in detail soon, as it seems to be a hot topic Keep checking back on the homepage.
Thanks for all your replies everyone, its great to see you helping each other out!!!

ok two questions... how do you know if there is a conflict?
and... how do you know which time slots are tutorials or labs, etc.?
thanks!

fortunately, that isn't considered a conflict, since they don't start at the same time. if 1IO6 ends at 2:20, then you have 10 minutes to get to 1GO3, so you're good.

What if all my courses are labelled C01 and none of them T01 etc, because I thought thats what tutorials were labelled as? Because according to that, I don't have any tutorials scheduled.

Perhaps none of the courses you are taking have tutorials.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I didn't sign up for any evening classes, but two of my courses are in the evening, is this normal? And can I change it once SOLAR re-opens?
Thanks

when SOLAR reopens so we can make changes, if I want to switch one tutorial for another, do I have to drop the one I currently have first? because I don't want to drop the one I have now, and then not be able to get the other one.

Steph.Lau,
Evening courses are denoted as 1E insead of 1D beside your course code on the Master Timetable and on your schedule. Check what it says. Some courses are only available in the evening. You can only change course times if on the Master Timetable there are more than one class sections. That means that it's not just C01. There would have to be a C02,C03 etc. Generally, evening courses are courses that begin at 7:00 pm and are more than 1 hour in length. A course that begins around 5:30 is not considered evening.
Mel,
You should be able to choose from a drop down menu under tutorials on SOLAR and see which are available. Once you choose a different one, you still have to press save for the changes to be accepted. Before you press save, nothing is changed.
Steph.Lau
says thanks to mitch for this post.

do i just ignore that?
so i guess for now we just wait until solar opens and.... i nstructions will be clear.. right? like we can select the time.. or what?
cuz im scared when we go on solar, we'll again be confused because of lack of instructions from mac.

if one class ends at 2:20 and the other starts at 2:30 they're not in conflict...

Hmm. If a course is in conflict and is only offered at one time in the year, how easy is it to switch into something else? A lot of courses seem to be full.

Thanks, Mitch. I just checked and my classes are indeed evening. So just to clarify, I will be able to change from evening to day courses as long as there are other class sections available?

lovethemusic: it really depends on what course you are gonna pick in substitution. some are really hot some aren't. Generally, you can assume that alot of courses are full now. What I would suggest is come up with a few options of courses you are interested in taking. Make a list of your top 5. Hopefully one of them will be open when you log on to SOLAR. no matter what, register in a course that will fit your schedule. Then from now on till the drop/add deadline, keep going on SOLAR to check if your top 1 and top 2 is avaliable. Alot of people will start dropping once school start. So just keep checking! Its annoying, but that is what you will have to do..

Yes, so long as there are other sections (C02, C03, etc) available you WILL be able to switch into those.

My MMEDIA 1B03 says "Tutorial to be assigned by administrator" Does this mean they still don't have a day/time for it yet? When will I find out?
