Is it true that you can only send emails from @muss.cis.mcmaster.ca ? or is it possible to send them from @mcmaster.ca ?

I get my @mcmaster.ca sent to my hotmail, and my @muss.cis.mcmaster.ca goes to the mcmaster webmail and my hotmail ?

Is it possible to make it so I can send emails from @mcmaster.ca ?

I got a little confused from your post :s. Are you asking if you can send from your @mcmaster.ca through hotmail? If so, yes, I have it set so that I'm able to do so.

What I mean is if I want to send an email from my mcmaster email account is my only option to send it from @muss.cis.mcmaster.ca or is there a way for the email to come from @mcmaster.ca.

There are certain situations where I send from @muss.cis.mcmaster.ca ex. applying for certain jobs, yet my resume lists my email as @mcmaster.ca because I prefer @mcmaster.ca and would like my emails to come from @mcmaster.ca rather than @muss.cis.mcmaster.ca

I think they're both interchangeable, i.e., it doesn't really matter which you use, they're both the same thing.

When you send from your McMaster email, it will show up to the other person as "@muss.cis.mcmaster"c a. But if you are giving out "@mcmaster.ca" and people email you at "[email protected] ", it will go to your McMaster email.

I don't think you can set it so it shows up as "@mcmaster.ca" when you email someone though.

Hopefully that will be changed with our new system that's overdue...

You can. Log into your e-mail and go to "Settings" under setting scroll down near the bottom, there will be a field called, "From address:" and you can change it there. When you send an e-mail, the people receiving will see it as, "Your Name" <[email protected]>

Thanks so much ! Not many people are aware of how to do this including faculty who send from @univmail.cis.mcmaste r.ca
