Urgh... No it doesn't have anything to do with clubs or support services, that's MUSC or MES related.
We are talking about cost per course (tuition). For example EE courses are mostly 5 or 4 unit courses. Plus, as Eng Studs we pay more for a unit than anyone else, regardless if we take the same elective.
It's the Profs+TA+Deans salary, some lab costs (which aren't high), the department funds, and the fact that it is an Engineering degree. It's one of the few undergraduate professional degrees where you can get at least 50-70k as a starting salary.
Remember, McMaster is a
non-profit university.
