tuition rebate
Hey has anyone received a tuition rebate for 800 dollars from the government? I got one three days ago. I am on summer osap. Does anyone know if this is a rebate for the summer term or the fall term? Essentially what I am asking if we just received one, will we get another one in the fall and winter terms for 2012-2013 school year?

I would think that since you dont have a full course load in the summer as you would during the school year, you likely just received your fall term rebate. Althought im not sure, this is just my take on things

That is probably your 30% rebate from term 2 - winter 2012. Some people got it right away in February, some of my friends just got it in the last few weeks. I haven't gotten it yet.
Its $800 this time because it only counted toward 1 term. Next year it will be for 2 terms, so you should receive ~$1600 assuming you still meet the requirements for the rebate.

I didnt think the 30% back applied to summer school, its 30% off the "average tuition" - so I wouldn't think that takes into account people who may or may not take summer school.

I am starting to think it is the rebate for term 1 for the next academic year (2012-2013) because I already received a rebate for term 2 of last year.

you still haven't gotten it? were you on OSAP last year? If not, I think you had to apply separately online to get it. If you were on OSAP you should've gotten it long ago

If you applied for OSAP last year I think they automatically considered you for the tuition rebate without the need of a separate application.

No it is actually the tuition rebate for the summer OSAP. I got too many grants for the 11/12 school year so I did not receive get a tuition rebate for that year but I recently received one for the summer year same as with some other people I know.

OSAP has said that they will have tuition rebates for every school year including summer and I calculated the amount I received with my grant in summer school and it added up to $800. Also, my boyfriend received one for the summer adding up to $800 with grants even though he received one in February. The other $800 you're supposed to receive for the 11/12 school year is automatically going to be taken out of your tuition for next year.

Yes I had OSAP last year, so I should've been automatically considered. I've read the requirements a zillion times and I'm sure I'm qualified!
The only thing is I'm in co-op, so I am currently making money. During winter 2012, although I was working, I was still a full time student registered at Mac. I couldn't find any exception specifically about co-op students. I am still undergrad, I am not in professional school.
I cant figure it out, I should've called a long time ago.

I was also doing co-op for winter 2012, and from what I gathered, we don't get the rebate because of that. They only give the 30% if you actually are paying tuiton for that term. It's stupid for the reason that just because we are on co-op, we don't get the rebate. And as far as I'm concerned, fifth-year students do not receive the rebate at all because they are considered "mature". And since winter 2012 was co-op, the academic term I would've had there if I didn't do co-op is now in fifth-year, meaning I will not get the rebate for that term. It doesn't make sense at all. It's not my fault that the co-op timeline is set up that way, and they should still give the rebate regardless of whether or not you're in co-op.

I got my 800$ a month ago. I'm 100% certain it was for Term 2 of last year (Jan-Apr) because I graduated so I'm not in summer school and I'm not enrolled in an Ontario University for next year.

The ontario tuition grant for Fall 2012-2013 has been increased from $1600 to $1680. So technically you will receive $840 a term. Therefore if you receive a $800 cheque, it is for Winter 2012 or Summer 2012.

If I am currently receiving the QEII scholarship (value of $3500), am I still eligible to receive this rebate? I noticed I haven't received the $800 yet.
