So I've been on Twitter about a month now and I find it terribly boring. However, I can't seem to stop. It's nothing special but I'm hooked. Why?

IMO, your experience with Twitter is what you make it. If you're just there (like I was in the beginning) to test the water and randomly "shout" stuff out then you may find it boring.

I, however, have turned it into a networking tool. It has helped me connect with people from all over the world who, in one way or another, share the same interests as me. In one case, Twitter enabled me to get a sponsorship from Microsoft for a contest the IEEE Student Branch was running on VERY short notice (i.e. about 3 days). Also, thanks in part to Twitter, I recently won a piece of software which will help me greatly during my flight training.

Compared to a year ago when I started using Twitter, I find myself concisely discussing world events, school related issues and basically everything under the sun. My blog's feed is posted to Twitter so that when I make a new post, people that follow me can read it and comment on it. Twitter has greatly increased the traffic to my site.

So, as I said in the beginning, the Twitter experience is what you make of it.

I agree with you, Danny that Twitter is really what you make of it. It can be a really useful source of information too, if people you are following post information. For example, some of the MSU Services (Compass, MacGreen, Campus Events) have Twitter feeds. There is also one in development for MacInsiders.
