Unable to access SOLAR
When I go to the MUGSI site and click on SOLAR, I get the message

Quote:
To inquire about access to SOLAR please contact the Office of the Registrar at 905-525-4600. ( LOGIN)
Why is that? Is anyone else able to access SOLAR?

Did you activate your mac ID services ? If not, then maybe that's why you can't go into SOLAR.

Yes, I did. In fact, I have to enter my mac ID and password to get into MUGSI in the first place.

After you activated your MacID, did you enable your MacID services?

It's in MUGSI under Profile.

Okay, when I try that I get the message:
  • At this time you are not eligible for a McMaster Email account.
This service is based on your academic registration.
When you have completed your academic registration through SOLAR, you will be able to activate your Email and other MAC ID services via MUGSI Quick Links: "Enable Email & Mac ID Services".
  • Contact the UTS Service Desk for assistance (email: [email protected] or telephone: 905-525-9140 extension 24357).

But I did create a McMaster email account, which I use to join MI.

I can't think of anything else. You should probably contact UTS or the Registrar's office about not being able to get into SOLAR. I think it's also possible for the the associate's dean office to help you get into a course for the summer, but you should talk to UTS or the Registrar's to get SOLAR fixed because you'll want to be able to register for next year...

Thanks. I'll be starting my course this fall, not this summer.

If you're entering first year, it probably takes time to activate your MacID or perhaps SOLAR isn't available until closer to the registration date. If you are worried you can contact the Registrar's office to inquire as to why you cannot access SOLAR.

Did you try logging into the Mac e-mail: studentmail.mcmaster. ca ?

If it also doesn't work, it's probably what Jeremy said.

It's probably because course registration via SOLAR starts only on 4th June. http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /regis...%20Final. pdf

You should still be able to log on to SOLAR though, you just can't click on the link to register for courses for the Fall/Winter term.

Well, I was able to log into MUGSI; it's just that when I clicked "SOLAR", I was told to call the registrar's office. I just did this, and when I told them that I'm starting the course this September, they said that I'll be able to use SOLAR only after course registration starts in June.

That's for first years. Everyone else can log on now, they just can't register for courses. Not being able to log on to SOLAR has more to do with whether or not you're going in to first year, as opposed to when registration days are.
