i just recently checked my marks for my physics course and discovered that I didn't have any marks in for my quizzes even though I showed up and wrote all but 1 (out of 9) and so my mark for that course is a 4, how should igo about having my situationevaluated. I know for sure i did not get zero on all of them and physics is one of my strong sciences for sure. Ive emailed my prof for that course asking for steps Ishould take from him so far. what am I able to do from here?

maybe you should have done this earlier? Most profs explicitly tell you to bring any discrepancies from your marks to him/her before the final exam.
It's a bigger hassle for the prof to change marks after they have already been submitted to the registrar.

What you should do? You've already contacted your prof, there's nothing much else.

Wait until you hear back from the prof, as they're the only ones who can give out the information you're requesting.

On a side note, I had a similar problem where whoever was entering the marks accidentally put a 4 for one of my peer evaluations, which was supposed to be a 9. I guess they read it wrong.

Anyway, I contacted somebody about it, and it was only fixed about a day ago. My mark was released before them. Since McMaster uses this stupid 12 point system, I can't exactly narrow down what my exam mark was, so I'm unable to tell if fixing that screw up would have brought me up a grade point or not.

Should I try hassling them about it, or should I just ignore it and assume that they will remember to recalculate everything on there own?

Your prof knew about the peer eval mark and fixed it? Or was it fixed by someone else? Anyways, that's not really all that important, at least in terms of finding out how you did on exam.

In terms of finding out your exam grade it's not too hard provided you know all of your grades. You just have to do some algerbra.

Say you finished with a 7 (B-, 70-72%). You had one assignment for the term, which was worth 70% of your final grade. You got an 85% on it.

85 x 0.7 = 59.5 (your term work)
y x 0.3 = 0.3y (your exam grade)

59.5 + 0.3y = 70
0.3y = 10.5
y = 35

:. you got 35% on your final.

Do the same thing for the other percentages in that number point (71% 72%). You will then see the highest and lowest possible mark you could have gotten on the exam with that final grade for the course.

I tried doing that a while ago, and the range of what I could have gotten on the exam was within ten percent or something...

The person who fixed it was the person who is in charge of entering physics marks on the computer. It was kind of weird because they never emailed me confirming that they fixed anything. I had to find out on WebCT myself.

They probably have lots of other marks to fix by the end of the term. So I doubt a courtesy email wasn't something they had time for.
