An updated document with dates and deadlines in a very nice and clean PDF you can print out. CLICK HERE
Make sure to note that you need to accept your PAYMENT AGREEMENT and make your payment for your courses in Sept by AUGUST 15th. You can postdate a check for Sept 1st, but the check needs to be in by AUGUST 15th!
While you're at it, be sure to check out the new Student Accounts and Cashiers website, its much improved and looks nice  |

The August 15th date is just if you're paying with a cheque correct? If I am doing online banking I just have to make sure it's like 5 business days before Spetember 1st right?

SOLAR will open for everyone regardless of faculty or year.
Thursday, August 13, 8:30 a.m.
SOLAR re-opens for those students previously registered and fees
cleared by August 12, and for those students who are newly admitted
after July 15th.
Monday, August 17 12:01 a.m.
SOLAR re-opens for those students previously registered.
Tuesday, August 18 12:01 a.m.
SOLAR re-opens for all students.
It should open for you on the 13th if you registered, confirmed your payment agreement and you were admitted to Mac before July 15th. |

I'm confused, I thought if I was paying by bank draft (which is in the same category as cheques) it just had to be in by September 1st. What is up with this August 15 thing?

You just need to CONFIRM your payment agreement by August 12th in order for SOLAR to open for you on the 13th. You don't need to pay anything until September 1st like you said.
Oh, I guess maybe you do need to send your check in for the 15th.
EDIT: Kay that doesn't make sense, because here it says...
"CHEQUE/MONEY ORDER/BANK DRAFT:
• If you don’t have access to an online/telephone banking service:
o You can send payment through regular mail or drop it off in person to:
Student Accounts & Cashiers
Gilmour Hall Room 209
McMaster University
1280 Main Street, West
Hamilton, ON L8S 4L8
• Payments are to be made payable to “McMaster University”
• Ensure that your Name and Student ID number are included
• We also have an after-hours drop box located outside of our office, Gilmour Hall 209 for your convenience
• Payment is due at the Student Accounts & Cashiers office by September 1, 2009. If this deadline is not met, a $35.00 Payment Agreement Default Fee will be assessed to your Student Account
• Any cheque not accepted and returned by the bank must be replaced by cash, cheque, money order/bank draft, or online/telephone banking and should included the Returned Cheque Charge ($50.00 for the first occurrence, increasing by $10.00 for each subsequent occurrence)."

I believe they want you to send it in by August 15th because of processing time. You can always post-date your cheques though.

SOLAR will reopen on august 13 if you confirmed your payment agreement atleast once. You dont have to pay by then (your payment date should be on your payment agreement depending on what payment plan you chose). |

You don't need to pay yet, as long as you have confirmed your PA and are registered (You check if you are registered in "Program & Course Summary" when you log into Mugsi and click on My Accademics) SOLAR will open for you on august 13th.

If I didn't have my Payment Agreement confirmed by July 15th, would I not get my confirmation package in the mail? I'm unsure if I should visit the Registrar's Office to retrieve it.

I remember one of these Dates and Deadlines pages saying "Students should confirm their payment agreement by July 15 in order to receive their confirmation package in the mail by August [something]".
The wording is tricky. It says you SHOULD confirm, but it doesn't say you have to. I would just give the Registrar's Office a call and ask them. They are very nice there. |
