Updates to Housing Website

Housing Website Has Been Updated

The housing website has been updated with new information regarding Residence Move-in 2009. Although most of the information has not been changed since last year there is one noticeble difference. It is the fact that instead of needing just a passport sized photo to get your keys to residence you also now need government issued photo ID.

The move in dates have also been officially posted. You can check them out there if you have not already seen them in the IRC Summer Newsletter.

I think they will put up the times you have to move in. It'll be a certain range depending on your residence and which floor you are on. That's how it was last year and I expect it to be the same.

Move-in has to be organized so that everything runs smoothly. The buildings with elevators will do move in by groups of floors for maximum efficiency.

I believe if you show up early (which you can, no one is stopping you), they just leave your stuff downstairs until the scheduled time for your floor.

Oooh so it's a range? Hmm, so there's no point of going earlier? What if we're a bit later due to traffic and such?

In order to coordinate the reps moving all your stuff in and having the elevators break the least amount of times in each res they give you a range. Otherwise if everyone comes when they want there is a TON of confusion.

Res move-in is highly organized, planned and orchestrated, and not following the rules means some of your stuff can (temporarily) be misplaced and/or not moved until a more convenient time for those doing the moving.

This is especially true if your stuff is going to a floor higher than three or four in your building.

If you come early (as in, before move-in begins) you'll have to wait in a line-up in your car.

The IRC is in charge of directing cars through move in so look for the people in white suits who will tell you where to go!

I can't stress this enough, LABEL YOUR BOXES!

If you don't, you'll be put off to the side until all your stuff is labeled. No one will touch your boxes until they're labeled!

I have a question: What if someone can't get government issued photo ID by move in? Will they not be able to get their keys?
