Would this be a major problem? Also i would have no access card, which is required... could i buy just the access card online?

If nothing changed but the edition then it should be almost exactly the same.

You can probably get the access card separately but sometimes they can be really expensive so it might be cheaper to just get the 9th edition with the access card included.

I took this course a couple of years ago and never used the access code. All the information you needed to know was in the lectures. Using an old textbook shouldn't be a problem either - the pages might not match up perfectly, but if the prof is teaching a lecture on the GI tract, you should be able to find the chapter on the GI tract.

I had the 8th edition last year and it was fine, the writing in the textbook was the same word for word I checked with my friends. And I never used the access code, didn't need it. I always like to read from the textbook no matter what but I know a lot of people that just studied from the lectures which is fine, some people I knew opened the textbook maybe once. If you're looking to save some money, it's a good idea to get the 8th edition!
