Using SWHAT
So...
I have a late exam (finish: 10 PM) and I wanted to walk to my car afterwards (Lot M), but I'm not sure how safe that would be. If I wanted to call SWHAT, would they walk with me, even if it's still on campus? Could I call them beforehand, or would I have to wait until my exam is done?

Walking on campus is what they specialize in, but they do longer walks too. Calling beforehand would be a good idea and I think they'd appreciate it (and you probably wouldn't have to wait 5-10 minutes, you could go right away).

I used to volunteer for SWHAT; while they primarily do off-campus walks, they definitely will do on-campus as well - the only reason it's primarily off-campus is because people tend to feel a bit safer on campus, it's more of a demand thing rather than restrictions that SWHAT implements. I've walked people to M lot a few times before (and also taken the shuttle with them if they prefer that to walking).
You can call anytime during their open hours to set up an appointment, you don't have to wait until after your exam.

If you're really feeling unsafe, pay the extra cash and park closer to your exam room. It's only one night, not a consistent thing

This is actually good to know: I wasn't aware that SWHAT will walk you from one building to another across campus. Last summer, I had a class in ITB and it always creeped me out when I had to walk through campus back to the student center at 10pm.

I leave ITB even later than that for the past 3 years, not once was I ever creeped out. The campus is generally very safe to walk around.

What may not be creepy for you, may not hold for other people and vice versa.
People are different.

It is. However, if I see a young woman going home at night all alone.... I always follow her home, just to make sure she gets there safely. I also like to stay outside her window until she goes to bed to make sure there are no intruders inside.
