UTS Notice: Limited accessibility of some University web pages and sites

 
Via UTS Alert: "A significant spike in traffic is impacting access to some McMaster web pages and sites. During this time, some web pages are slow to load while others are unavailable. UTS is working on finding a solution to this situation and will advise the community once an update is available. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time."

"Significant spike in traffic"? Does this "spike in traffic" not happen every year as the entire university tries to get on to SOLAR? Shouldn't they be expecting a "significant spike in traffic"?

Or are there more people on this year ... perhaps more students were accepted?

Nah McMaster just felt it was more important to give Avenue a facelift rather than work on upgrading the server for SOLAR.
And youre right, you would think they would be expecting this spike in traffic by now...

Yeah..not surprised. Funny how UTS actually needs to 'investigate' into this issue.

Finding a solution? Let more people get onto SOLAR at the same time whilst preventing it from crashing..
