Volunteer Opportunities @ MAC
Hi!

Okay I'm here for much of the summer and instead of sitting at home doing nothing I thought I'd do some volunteering. I tried looking online but I couldn't find anything so I though I would ask here. I know that there is a bunch of orientations going on for first years.. anyone know if and how I'd be able to help out with that? I've found one to volunteer for this week and the next but what about in the month of July/August.

Thanks

The MSU website has a ton of volunteering and job postings, just browse through there and hopefully you'll find something :]

You can also do Mission to Mac. Honestly, I make up volunteer positions for myself. I tend to e-mail companies and places I want to work at and ask them to give me something to do. They've never said no to me. I've had some pretty awesome volunteer experiences. Plus, I have a ton of IRC related stuff to do so feel free to help out, haha!

Don't forget CVA : )

Please ignore the SISO one, I'm unable to facilitate volunteering this summer. But it'll be back in September along with other placements!

awesome thanks guys! I'm going to look into some of these. If anyone has anymore please post them.

And for CFMU... the campus radio station... when you volunteer... is it like being a talkshow host or something?

If your application to get a radio show is accepted then you get to be a host. Otherwise you are put on a volunteer list, and when a host can't make it a mass email is sent out to see if someone else can take the slot.

I suggest anyone looking to pursue a career in medicine or rehab to look into the MacWheelers and MacSeniors program at Ivor Wynne Centre. It's a very rewarding experience.

CURE Canada is also looking for volunteer counsellors for a summer camp called Cheza. It runs during the last two weeks of July; you can find out more about it here: http://www.curecanada.org/cheza

(Also, ignore the application due date, we've extended it!)
