Just go in and ask! My sister volunteered at my retirement home my mom works at, and it was just a matter of asking them if they would like some help.

I've been volunteering at Macassa Lodge on the mountain for about a year and a half now. It's a bit far from the campus, if you're interested in somewhere closer you could try Wentworth Lodge in Dundas or St. Joseph Villa.

Just look at page 13 of this Hth Age 1BB3.PDF. It's for Aging and Society where people had to volunteer with seniors in the community. Just do a quick google search of each one of them and you'll get contact information and applications and such! Also, be sure to check out OSCAR, there's a ton of volunteer opportunities on there (https://oscar.mcmaster.ca/mcauth/).

I have volunteered in two retirement homes; not only is it really boring (unless you happen to have a few residents that enjoy shouting nonsense all day) and gross - the main and most depressing thing about those places is that if you have a good conversation with one of the elderly one day while playing checkers there is no guarantee that they will be there next week.

Happened to me 3 times in a month.

Also, dementia wards are absolutely depressing.
