Want to Get Into Econ 1B03 But Can't...
Hi there,

So, I'm in first year Life Sci and for this semester I want to get into Econ 1B03 because I heard it's a really easy elective, but more importantly, I was looking into minoring in business and Econ 1B03 is one of the 24 units needed to get this minor...As well, business may be an option for me if I decide not to continue with the Sciences...the problem is the course is full and another person who's in the same boat as me tried e-mailing the prof and she told him she can't put him in because of fire safety regulations...should I try e-mailing the prof myself and maybe she will consider my situation -what are the chances? Or should I just wait until school starts and hope that someone will drop it by then?

Thanks!

E-mail the prof and visit the Associate Dean of Business office and see what they can do for you. Econ 1B03 always fills up quickly, because almost every sci/eng takes it as an easy elective on top of it being required for commerce. Trying your luck with SOLAR is pointless. Try the Official Course Trading Thread here, too: http://www.macinsiders.com/showthrea...urse+tradin g

Chances are someone will drop in the first week or do

. Thing is solar at least at initial registration has limits of how many of different kinda people can register. Not sure if it applied year round.

Dont bother emailing and all that stuff.

Check solar a couple times a day, and you will get in before school starts. If in the rare chance you don't, after the first lecture for econ, people WILL drop it and spots will open, so just attend the lecture anyways.

Black Dragon, I strongly disagree. Your method would make sense if it was simply a course of interest. However, the OP is interested in completing an economics minor, so he should e-mail and they will put him in.

You can always get into 1BB3 and do the 1Bo3 later, it doesn't really matter which you do first.

Who specifically would I talk to, would I go to the Department of Economics or to the Faculty of Business since it is regarding a minor?

Department of Economics is probably the best place to start.

just camp solar. log in everyday and see if a spot opens up. Like many other courses a spot will open. You still got 1-2 weeks left.

If you cant get into Econ 1B03 just take Econ 1BB3 (that's what I took).. With a good amount of work put into the course you can do real well.
