Watch your back in Westdale & Sterling!

Just a random Public Service message.

A friend of mine today got robbed on Sterling at 9ish pm at knife point. I hope I don't start a race issue here but the guy who robbed her was a big African male who appeared to be using a kitchen knife.

She reported it to the police and they said this isn't an isolated incident/ this description has been spotted before.

I would also make sure to watch my back whenever I leave the bank/ATM at TD or the other bank on Marion(CIBC I think). A good number of street criminals follow their mark's from the bank.

I also heard another rumor that there have been break ins in westdale while people were in the house.

Watch your back & lock your doors at all times!

It's also important to mention that the holidays are coming up very soon (like none of you were aware of that fact, lol), and it is also a time where there is an increased amount of break-ins in the Westdale area.

Take precautions over the break: don't keep valuables in plain sight, make sure doors and windows are locked and barricaded, use automatic timers, keep your blinds closed, etc.

Thanks for posting this Huzaifa.

Also, watch out for shady looking deaf people selling Christmas cards. It's a scam. Trust me...I learned the hard way.

knife point! lol, I didn't even know that word existed, please explain to me where the knife is usually held and is the guy alone?

Thank God it's not gun point like in my country...my phone was once snatched @ gun point by 2 men and then they fled away on their bike, that was the only time I felt amazingly helpless

nonetheless...i got a better phone

but @ topic, I've been to westdale thrice since september, all 3 times...alone

I find it odd that the is more common in the Westdale area. I live in the student ghetto south of main, and I always thought this would be a worse area in terms of crime, but its not something Ive heard a lot of anyways.

Maybe it is presumed that people living in Westdale have more money? Because if you think of it this way, most criminals don't actually "live" in Westdale, they sort come over to do their street crimes. They would obviously choose a non-ghettoish area.

Also, trying to steal from a Hamiltonian local 18 year old who has lived in a tough area(east end etc) is more different then then someone from out of town @ generally high rent Westdale houses or drunk people walking home from Snooty's/Pita Pit/Basilique/Gringo's.

I've never been to Ainslewood but Sterling for example never has people hanging on their front porches, its always deserted. Quite an easy place to commit crime :S

9 PM.

I know someone who was robbed 2 years ago in a Westdale residential. It sucked because it was in the middle of the day when everyone was at work, so she couldn't even get help until she got to the shopping area.

Where is the student ghetto in main street exactly? I think I will live there instead of Westdale next year.

He might be reffering to the entire neighborhood of Ainslewood, which is everything south of Main Street. I.e: If you go down Emerson, Broadway, Stroud, Leland. They are generally though of as "Ghetto". Plus I have also heard of stories about drug addicts living/walking around near Emerson, that could possibly add to the image of it being a student "Ghetto"
