Meditation helps with all things anxiety and stress related.

Take singing lessons and then participate in your voice teacher's recitals. After a few performances you shouldnt get nervous in those situations. I'm not the attention-whore type. After a few recitals I got to the point where I was so relaxed before performances that I would actually get kinda sleepy instead of being super nervous. Completely bombing performances and making an ass out of yourself will speed this process up greatly.

Or just smoke some crack.

J/k, seriously, dont smoke crack.

It's so tempting. I can buy it on STEAM so I wouldn't even have to leave my room. I'd have it bought, downloaded, and ready to play within 40 minutes. :(

I chain smoke and binge drink when I need to be calm.

But I wouldn't recommend that to anyone.

So really, idk :|

That game is sometimes not a very good stress reliever. It can be sometimes fustrating to the point you want to chunk your controller at the wall. The multiplayer is a campfest haha.

Sex and weed (seriously). Mostly the latter, 'cause STDs suck.

Other than that... some guitar and some Van Halen and RHCP. Dance around in my room violently. etc.

Weed can actually cause anxiety. Hence the whole paranoia thing.

-shrug- Makes me pretty chill.

Not much to be paranoid about when you're high and playing the guitar. It's pretty relaxing, imo. ;D

lol I'm old fashioned (e.g. a huge nerd). :p I don't think sex 'n' weed is a solution I can put into practice. xD

I just wanted to point out that stress isn't necessarily a result of 'not preparing enough' particularly since in my case, I had no clue what the questions would be and you're expected to 'solve new problems' (ie. ones we haven't seen before). In situations like this, I don't know what else is humanly possible for me to do, besides hack into the prof's brain and learn the questions beforehand, lol. It's essentially this uncertainty that got to me.

(Not to mention, oral testing is new territory for me, after many years of written testing being drilled into my head).

Thanks for the responses!

Generally only in high doses and inexperienced users. Set and setting are also important.

Drink Water; Take sips during your event.

It worked wonders for me during competitive debating where I had to speak for 3-6 minutes. I'm not a psychologist but the other side has to do with mindset; Stress/Anxiety is a figment of our imagination/natural brain process. We can get rid of it just as easily as we suffer from it.

I think I've been able to think about/apply the latter psych theory by practicing/competitively applying a good number of penalty shots in Soccer over the years(almost a 100% success record). My theory is that if I can not crack under the pressure(something even professionals do) I can apply that nerves of steel thingie to other venues as well. All it takes is imagining back to taking a penalty shot.

Having said that I still manage to epic fail at times during public speeches; I vary from absolutely nailing them to rambling/mumbling/fail's. Infact two such events happened last month; did a extremely effective and well received class talk(300 people) then somehow Failed at a mini 2 minute election speech during an SRA meeting infront of a much smaller audience. I dunno :S
