Website Template.. feedback!
Alright. So in my other thread I asked you guys for feedback on BlackdragonDesigns.co m website. So me and adrian took into consideration all of your suggestions and came up with a template.

This is just the FIRST step. We now need you guys to give us even more feedback and suggestions on the template. Everything from colours, to designs, fonts, everything!

Thank you in advance

Looks good. I'll reserve further judgement until I see the code.

1) don't have such a severe gradient. sublety is key.
2) whitespace is your friend. use it well.
3) keep fonts pretty standard.
4) remove all your bevels and drop shadows. subtle gradients look much nicer.
5) your menu doesn't fit into the site at all. keep things in harmony.
6) find a colour scheme that works better. you have too many random shades and hues thrown in and it isn't cohesive.
7) design on a grid. ALWAYS design on a grid.

personally, i would use the blueish background gradient and then have font on top of that in a bold white. look at this site: http://www.finelysliced.com. au/

they are using contrast to define portions of the site, and you can see the grid layout. it makes it a lot more readable, and a lot better to follow the sections.

Overall? Or just the background?

Thanks!

It is more standard to have your logo in the top left corner, as Rohan said, and not below your menu links.

Also note, as has been said before, stay away from high contrast gradients like you have in your background and your menu items. I'd stick to a more subtle background gradient with a single colour.

Again, I highly suggest looking at those CSS galleries that I gave in your other thread for inspiration and to get an idea of what people are expecting layout-wise these days.

Actually, to follow up with Chad's thing about the web galleries, steal ideas from there. If you see something that looks cool, try to reproduce it. It will be great practice, you might figure out new techniques, and best of all, you can work from there to make your own style.
