I support WIND (although I don't use their service), and I hope they eventually put one of the big ones out of business/in serious trouble (mainly Bell), but they really need to expand faster than they currently are.

You gotta give them credit for the speed of their expansion to this day. It took the current Big 3 companies years and years to grow to the coverage they have now. For the purpose of us McMaster students, Hamilton is well covered. Campus has great reception all over, and for those travelling from the GTA (for the most part), they're covered.

And also.. I'd take a Wind Zone over leaving your home city and being charged long distance. I also love the fact that I can call anybody I want without worrying about long distance, as a lot of my friends have various area codes (416, 905, 289, 519 - all with no long distance? Yes please.)

Do you know if they're going to be on campus during Mac side walk sale?

I don't know, but I'm hoping they do, so they can compete side-by-side with the other carriers. Their website says they'll be visiting universities in their Wind Zones, so I'm assuming that would include McMaster, but don't take my word for it...

if ur in mississauga and debating to go wind or other companies just because of long distance, get an oakville number. calling from hamilton->home is free since it is a local call and incoming calls are free (home phone)

really? I did that for my first and second year. I was with virgin mobile. Definitely NOT local for me to call mississauga from hamilton, but it was local for me to receive and make calls within hamilton. Coupled with an unlimited incoming plan, it was okay, but I found it annoying to text my family so they called me back...

That was with virgin, so unless it differs with other carriers, I still recommend Wind over that.

Can't you do that with every company? I know Virgin also allows you to change monthly.

Just one more year on my Rogers contract and I'll be done with them. They overcharge for everything and I can't even change my plan otherwise I have to resign for another 3 years. I'll probably go with Wind next September if they have the same $25 Unlimited plan again.

Wind's back-to-school student special for $25 Unlimited Voice is an amazing deal, it's only for a year though..

The student special is not just Unlimited Nation-Wide Voice, but also unlimited North American Text, Call Control (alerts, caller id/display, waiting etc), and unlimited Voicemail. (in a wind home zone)
This is $25 for one year, then returns to $45 (as this IS the $45 plan just on promotion for students). No contracts though so you can always switch to a cheaper plan later. This promotion is on the third page of Winds "Voice Plans" on the website and is listed as the "Special Always Shout"
