Workstudy Questions
Will the employer wait until the listed application deadline before interviewing people and choosing a person for the job? Several jobs I want to apply for say their deadline is by first week of April, and I am very busy with midterms right now, and wish to deal with this later. However I am worried that people who apply earlier can get the job.

Also how competitive is it to get a job with workstudy?

Very competitive, and no most of them will not wait until the deadline. Take 30 minutes and apply ASAP.

If the job is still listed on OSCARPLUS does it mean they are still looking for a person? I wouldn;t want to apply to something where they already chose someone

many employers don't take down the post even if they hire someone, so apply quick!

You won't know if they've chosen someone already. The posts automatically are taken off at the deadline, but as I said before, many positions are filled much earlier.

This is so true. With so much automation through computers, you would think they set up a script to automatically remove a post once a position has been filled.

But then they'd have to somehow manually tell the system that they filled a position - so it's essentially the same as just taking the post down themselves. An automatic script won't be of much use in this situation.

Once you apply how long does it usually take before you are contacted if they want to interview you? I just want to know so I am not eagerly waiting, even though they rejected me.

I'd give it a week but then again I had a friend who applied for work study around the same time I did and she had gotten the call back in late-September, but know that this was for the Fall/Winter session.

Welcome to the world of job-hunting.
Every employer is different. If you haven't heard back after about a week, you can always try following up with them.
